Police say license plate reading cameras helped find the suspect in a deadly shooting that happened in Morris yesterday. A 25-year old woman was shot at an apartment building on Twilight Dr. in the afternoon. Six-and-a-half hours later, a 16-year old was arrested in Joliet. He’s accused of first degree murder.
The victim has been identified as Beverly A. Lambert of Shorewood. Grundy County Coroner John Callahan says she died at Morris Hospital at 6:55pm about two-and-a-half hours after she was shot.
Police Chief Alicia Steffes says she’s grateful to all the police agencies that helped. People in the neighborhoods around the murder scene were told to stay inside while the search was underway.
