Marseilles hiring Chamlin and Associates for plans to improve bridges on Main Street

Marseilles is spending $8,000 for Chamlin and Associates to make plans to fix areas on two bridges in the downtown area. City Engineer Mike Etscheid says one area is the North mill race bridge which is where the realignment of Commercial and Main Streets is happening. He says it’s the right time to add a new wearing surface because the project would need stoplights.

He says the second project involves the portion of Main St that goes over the I&M Canal. He says the railing on both sides is starting to wear out.

It will cost the city $8,000 for the plans. Etscheid says both bridges are still safe to drive on, but they need the maintenance.
