Weger’s name cleared according to his attorneys

A hair that wasn’t Chester Weger’s clears his name, according to his attorneys. Attorney Andy Hale told Judge Michael C. Jansz Monday that DNA testing done on a hair found on one of the gloves of one of the victims of the Starved Rock Murders belonged to a man, but not to Weger. Hale says more testing was supposed to be done on twine and cigarette butts but there wasn’t enough material to get a profile. He says the next step is to send the hair to an FBI database so it can be tested to find out who it belongs to.

Prosecutors said they want to make sure the DNA report is completed before the hair is sent to the database. The defense agreed. After the hearing, Hale promoted his podcast and claimed that there was more evidence that he received that clears his client of any wrongdoing. He says although the hair evidence doesn’t mean that Weger wasn’t there, the story looks a lot different.

Weger has been trying to clear his name after he claimed he was coerced into confessing to the Starved Rock Murders 62 years ago. Judge Jansz set a new hearing to send the hair to the database for October 28th.
