County Board to discuss keeping hunting at Catlin Park

One issue the LaSalle County Board will be discussing at the August board meeting is whether hunting should still be allowed at Catlin Park. Board Member Jerry Myers of Streator says he’s against it because it’s a lawsuit waiting to happen and doesn’t want the county to be liable.

He asked attorney Patrick Herrmann what he thinks about it from a legal perspective. He says he doesn’t disagree.

Board Member Arratta Znaniecki of Ottawa says where she lives there are too many deer. Although she and other board members didn’t say whether they were for or against having hunting in the park. Maintenance Director Robert Kaminski says no deer were taken in the last three years at the park.
