UKA Group says it doesn’t know how many turbines it will build yet, but it’s ready to start asking for permits for a wind farm in the Tonica, Lostant, and Cedar Point area. David Jakubiak with UKA Group says some agreements will be final in the next few weeks, but land acquisition for Hickory Wind is nearly complete. UKA will build an 80-megawatt wind farm it says will generate $20 million in property taxes over the next 25 years.
The company will study the expected environmental effects, how the project will affect birds, and how the shadow flicker and sounds from wind turbines will affect everyone. It will also plan for the eventual decommissioning of the turbines.
