New Ottawa Fire Chief and Deputy Chief see similar vision in future of fire department

The Ottawa Fire Department’s new chief and deputy chief seem to be on the same page about the future of the department. Chief Brian Bressner was sworn in as chief about two months ago and Deputy Chief Mike Mills has been deputy chief for about three weeks. But both have been very busy working at the department. Bressner says he is working on a plan that could be used for several years in the future. That could include a third ambulance, a third fire station on the north side, and recruiting people who want to work for the department.

Deputy Chief Mike Mills says his role has him working directly with other staff.

Bressner says he’s been in the fire service since 2001 and started with Ottawa in 2007. Mills started in 2006. Bressner was the former deputy chief under Andy Borkowski before he retired. Mills says he’s worked his way up the ranks. He was a lieutenant and captain before becoming deputy chief.

Both say they are very excited about their new jobs. You can listen to the full interview with both of them here:
