Yvonne Geil, 88, of Ottawa, formerly of Waltham Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at Alden Courts in Des Plaines, IL.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00 until 12:00pm at Waltham Presbyterian Church, 809 N 3450th Rd., Utica, IL 61373. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm, with Rev. Kathie Luke officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Lutheran Cemetery.
Yvonne was born on January 1, 1938 in Ottawa, IL to Earl and Ferne (Larson) Anderson. She married Robert Geil on October 13, 1957 at Freedom Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2022.
Yvonne worked for many years as a type setter for the Mendota Shopping Guide. She also helped at the family Sears store in Mendota. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed gardening, crafting, and doing jig saw puzzles. She was an avid baker and was known for her chocolate chip cookie recipe. She enjoyed and looked forward to their winter trip in Florida with her husband, Robert.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Doug Jordan) Bolen and Diane (David) Stock; her grandchildren, Lindsey (Kellen) Rhodes, Daniel (Renee) Stock, and Jessica (Nick) Kron; her great grandchildren, Scarlett Rhodes, Theodore Stock, Timothy Stock, Maxwell Kron, and Madeline Kron; as well as her sister, Nancy (Terry) Thompson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ferne; her husband, Robert; and her sister, Carolyn Frisch.
