Greta Eljean Creed, 94, of Marseilles, formerly of West Frankfort, IL, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Pleasant View Luther Home.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 at Seals- Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Peggy Schumann officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort.
Eljean was born on November 14, 1931, in West Frankford, to Charles and Cora (McCarver) Mitchell. In 1950, she married Clifford Creed of Johnston City who preceded her in death in 2008.
Eljean was a member of the Marseilles Church of God. She was employed by Borg-Warner and later Echlin Manufacturing until her retirement. She was a member of Home Extension and its Christian Women’s Connection. Together, Clifford and Eljean enjoyed traveling with the travel trailer and visited all 50 states.
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Tim) Truty of Normal; her son, Steve (Pat) Creed of Marseilles; her four grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Capsel, Steven (Vicki Heath) Creed, Zachary (Lydia) Truty, and Caitlin Truty; her six great-grandchildren, Cameron and Gavin Creed, Francesca and Finn Capsel, Pierson Lee Smerdel, and Emerson Truty; her sister-in-law, Betty Mitchell; and her brother-in-law, Robert Creed.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clifford; seven brothers; and three sisters.
