Josephine (Ribas) Guerrero, 74, of Ottawa, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at the OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with Deacon Michael Driscoll, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral Home.
Josephine was born on April 29, 1952 in Spring Valley to Joseph and Jesse (Perez) Ribas. She worked at the Marseilles Sewing Factory and later retired from OES District 141 for 20 years. Josephine married Salvador Guerrero, Sr. on January 26, 1972 in Joliet. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa. Josephine was a devoted Cubs, Bulls, and Bears fan. She loved and was very dedicated to her children, husband, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Salvador Guerrero, Sr. of Ottawa; her five children, Salvador (Laura) Guerrero, Jr. of Dixon, Joe (Stacey) Guerrero of LaSalle, Phil Guerrero of Ottawa, Rose (Chris) Daw of Lake Ozark, MO, Jesse (Catherine) Guerrero of Ottawa; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Linda) Ribas of DePue; three sisters, Mary (Gus) Hernandez, Cathy Ribas, and Margaret (Rafael) Gonzalez all of DePue.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jesse Ribas; and two brothers.
