Laura Ann Yegge, age 21, of Seneca, Illinois, passed away on May 21, 2026. She was born on July 23, 2004, in Morris, Illinois, and lived a life marked by quiet strength, determination, and a deep love for the people and experiences that brought her joy.

Laura was the cherished daughter of Todd and Darcy (Zimmerman) Yegge of Seneca. She was a beloved sister to Brett (Maddy Hale) Yegge, of Streator, and a proud aunt to Sawyer Yegge and Maylee Kay Yegge. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandparents, Mark and Monty Yegge of The Villages, Florida, and Don and Betty Zimmerman of Anamosa, Iowa, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever hold her close in their hearts. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave them love, laughter, and unwavering devotion throughout her life.

Laura graduated from Seneca High School with the class of 2022, where she distinguished herself as an Illinois State Scholar and a student on the high honor roll. She was known for her extraordinary dedication to her education and for the discipline she carried with her through every challenge. Even during treatments, she refused to let her schoolwork slip and maintained a 4.0 GPA through perseverance and determination. She made many sacrifices to keep her studies at their very best, and her commitment to learning reflected the remarkable character she displayed in every area of her life. At the time of her passing, she was a student at Northwestern University, enrolled in the online program through the School of Professional Studies for Health Sciences. Laura approached her education with seriousness, grace, and a deep desire to build a meaningful future.

During her years at Seneca High School, Laura was active in many activities and made a lasting impression on those around her. She served as manager for the wrestling team all four years of high school, supported her classmates with steady loyalty, and contributed her time and energy with genuine pride. She was also involved in band and FFA, where she found opportunities to grow, learn, and connect with others. Laura was an all-conference golfer and took great pride in her achievements on the course. Through FFA horticulture, she continued to explore her interests and develop the skills she valued. Her involvement in school activities reflected her spirit of service, her willingness to work hard, and her ability to encourage those around her.

Laura lived with a warm heart and a love for the simple pleasures that made life special. She loved to visit Galena and enjoyed the excitement of going to Medieval Times. She found happiness in cooking, trying new restaurants, and spending time at coffee shops. Music was one of her great joys, and she especially treasured the time she spent with friends. Her dog, Murry, held a special place in her heart, and she loved him dearly. Laura had a gift for appreciating life’s meaningful moments, and she brought that same appreciation to the people and places she loved.

Those who knew Laura will remember her as an extremely dedicated student, a loving family member, and a young woman of quiet courage. She faced life with determination and grace, and even in difficult times she remained committed to the goals and responsibilities that mattered to her. Her strength inspired those around her, and her kindness left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Laura’s life, though far too brief, was filled with purpose, love, and promise.

Laura Ann Yegge will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who were touched by her life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best and in the many moments of joy, determination, and love that she shared so freely.

A visitation for Laura will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the UC Davis Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. A celebration of Laura’s life will follow at 1:00 pm. Cremation rites will be accorded after.
