Frederick Alva Conner, 84, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026. Frederick was born in Ottawa, Illinois on January 9, 1942 to Charles and Laura (Kruft) Conner. A visitation will take place at Ottawa Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Ottawa Funeral Home on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 10:00 am; burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park.
Frederick spent his childhood in Ottawa. He entered into the Navy at age 17 where he served 20 years, then went onto work for Shell until he retired. Frederick loved to spend time shopping at thrift stores, reading books, watching movies, and doing crossword puzzles. Frederick is survived by his brother, Bruce (Mary Jo) Conner, of Utica; his sister, Dee Ann Thomas, of North Highland, California; his brother-in-law, Bruce Ramsey, of Cleveland, Ohio; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Frederick is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Loren “Butch” Conner; and his sisters, Alta (Paul) Ringer of Ottawa, Barbara Conner-Ramsey of Cleveland, Ohio, Clara Morris of Idaho, and Colleen Perkins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
