Arthur James “Jimmy, Jimbo, Jim, AJ” Evans, 71 of Marseilles, IL, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, March 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 1 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor John Patterson of Parkview Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.
Jim was born on August 25, 1954 in Baton Rouge, LA to Clara (Lambert) and William Evans. On July 29, 1994 he married Theresa Bozeman of Louisiana who survives.
He was a graduate of Glen Oaks High School, class of 1972. He worked as a Pipefitter for Local 597 in Illinois and Local 198 in Louisiana for over 40 years. In his free time, he enjoyed cheering on the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. He also loved spending time in the outdoors, gardening, deer hunting, and bass fishing. He spent the last 3 years enjoying being a Pawpaw.
He was a loving husband, father, Pawpaw, dog dad, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Theresa; a daughter, Savannah (Dillon) Funk; two sons, Bryson (Hannah Wolfe) and Colin Evans; his grandson, Beau Evans; his granddaughter, Quinn Funk; one sister, Diane (Joe) Graphia, five brothers, Lamar, William, Robert (Linda Miller), James (Gloria), and Mitchell (Avay) Evans; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara & William Evans; his in-laws, Mary and Francis Bozeman; two sisters, Linda Douthett and Paula Evans; a sister-in-law, Patricia Evans; a nephew, Josh Evans; and a niece, Heather Hauser.
