Richard W. Barnett, 91, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2026, at Pleasant View in Ottawa.
He has willed his body to science. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Richard was born on September 17, 1934, in Ottawa to Gilbert and Dorothy (Dooms) Barnett. He was a graduate of OTHS and was an electrician at Libbey Owens Ford. Richard married Janet Connors on November 3, 1956, at St. Columba Church in Ottawa.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Barnett, son, Richard J. Barnett, daughter, Susan M. Rohr, all of Ottawa, and son Joseph W. G. Barnett of Pensacola, FL. He loved being a grandpa to Tiffany (Sarah) Goetz, Amber (Josh) Kappelman, Nicole (Jason) Pistick, Lauren (Aaron) Hertzog, Jordan (Morgan) Barnett, Creighton Barnett, Rachel (Ben) Grunder, and Taylor Rohr. He is a great grandpa to Blaze (Liz) Kappelman, Paris Blankenship, Jackson Pitstick, Nicolas Pitstick, Maverick Pitstick, Austyn Kappelman, Ethan Pitstick, Akureyri Kappelman, Amelia Barnett, Violett Grunder, Margot Hertzog, and a very proud great-great-grandpa to 5th generation Deacon Leonard Kappelman. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Dangerfield, nephew E.B. (Shannon) Dangerfield, and great-nephew, Winn Dangerfield, all of Wilmette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandson, Jericho Kappelman, and brother Jack Gilbert Barnett.
