Ardella G. Hatland, 97, of Ottawa, formerly of Harding, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ottawa with Rev. Randy Mortenson, officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Baker Cemetery in Leland, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Ardella was born on November 4, 1928 in Ottawa to Ole and Borghild (Nerland) Alsvig. She married Chester Hatland on August 23, 1958 at the Fox River Lutheran Church. He passed away on April 7, 2012. Ardella was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She loved her family, enjoyed reading the Bible, puzzles, needlework, entertaining, baking, and especially loved the Lord.

She is survived by her daughter, Joye (David) Ford of Huntington, IN; three sons, Stephen (Deborah) Hatland of Marion, IN, Phillip Hatland of Ottawa, and Daniel (Connie) Hatland of Harding; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; her sister Ruth Stephens; her brother, Gordon Alsvig; and two sisters-in-law, Edith Alsvig and Gloria Hatland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Borghild Alsvig; her husband, Chester Hatland; four sisters, Bernice, Amy, Betty, and Ada; and a brother, Oluf.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pleasant View Lutheran Home, Ottawa, IL and Bethel Lutheran Church, Ottawa, IL.
