Dolores M. (Hoelzer) Barnett, 90, of La Salle, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Phillip Potaczek officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service, at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Ottawa.
Dolores was born on January 26, 1935 in Mendota to Wilbur and Arlene (Kaiser) Hoelzer. Dolores married Robert “Bob” Barnett on August 17, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mendota. She assisted her brother on the family farm and then after children were grown, she worked at the Community Bank of Utica until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, La Salle County Historical Society, Utica Garden Club, Utica Seniors and former member of the Waltham Grange for over 60 years. She loved her church and volunteered for many women’s activities. Dolores enjoyed gardening, sewing, managing the family’s singing performances and her greatest joy was attending the various activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Lori (Kevin) Kimes of Ottawa, Karen (Daniel) King of Western Springs, and Brenda (Bryan) Killelea of Ottawa; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Chad) Holloway, Ryan (Corrine) Kimes, Abigail (Hudson) Stern, Stephanie (Brock Prizel) King, Kathryn (Jack) Donahue, Patrick (Libby) Killelea, and Michael (Emily) Killelea; Twelve great-grandchildren Greyson, Mackson, Huxson Holloway, Emmie, Beckett, Hunter Kimes, Elisabeth, Josephine, Margaret Stern, Addyson, Kellen Donahue, and future baby Killelea due in November. Two sisters Teresa Yocum and Velda (Richard) Reed, brother Eldon (Pat Fitzgibbons) Hoelzer, and sisters-in-law Joyce Hoelzer and Elaine Farmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bob; one brother, Marlin Hoelzer; her sisters-in-law, Pat Hoelzer and Ruth Sesto and brothers-in-law Michael Yocum, Barney Sesto, and Don Farmer.
