Mary Catherine O’Brien, 85, of Ottawa, formerly of Odell, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at The Pavilion of Ottawa.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, from 10:00am until 11:00am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00am with Fr. Ryan Mattingly officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Mary was born on October 27, 1939 in Ottawa, IL to Patrick and Marie O’Brien. She worked for Nicor Gas for over 35 years until her retirement. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed riding and showing horses, tending to her beautiful gardens, and being the caretaker to her dogs. She enjoyed traveling and even went to Ireland twice.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Kerwin; and her nephew, Michael (Bonnie) Poutre. She is preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Marie; and her brother, Patrick O’Brien.
