OSF HealthCare is providing an important update regarding its regional model of care in the Illinois Valley, specifically as it relates to services in Peru and Ottawa.
Due to a delay in having its application considered by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board, OSF will temporarily postpone the opening of inpatient OB services at OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru.
In the meantime, inpatient OB services will continue to be available at OSF Saint Elizabeth in Ottawa. OSF is working to secure the resources needed to fully open inpatient OB services in Peru while temporarily supporting inpatient OB services in Ottawa until the application to discontinue OB services in Ottawa is presented to the Board.
While OB services in Peru will not open on August 18 as previously planned, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and full medical/surgical units in Peru will open as scheduled on that date. The previously planned intermediate beds in Ottawa will not be implemented at this time, as ICU services there will continue until the November presentation to the state review board.
As part of OSF’s evolving regional model of care, families across the area will continue to have access to coordinated, high-quality services close to home. This includes inpatient OB in Ottawa for now, and a robust network of outpatient and specialty care offerings across OSF locations. Patients will benefit from seamless access to prenatal and postnatal care, advanced maternal-fetal medicine consultations, women’s health visits, breastfeeding support, pediatric care, and behavioral health services. OSF’s digital health platforms will also continue to connect patients with virtual visits, remote monitoring, and health education resources, providing convenient options to meet individual needs.
“This regional approach ensures that no matter where a patient enters our Ministry—whether at Ottawa, Peru, another town, or through virtual care—they will receive the same compassionate, Mission-driven care and be connected to the right services at the right time,” said Dawn Trompeter, president of OSF Saint Elizabeth.
