Michael “Mike” Bruce, 69, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at his home.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 9, at the Knights of Columbus, 401 W Main St, Ottawa, IL 61350, with a service at 12:30 pm and luncheon immediately following. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.
Mike was born April 8, 1956 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Virginia (Clark) Bruce. He is married to his wife of 38 years, Cindy (Sandwich) Bruce. He was very passionate about his family, truck driving, and the Chicago Cubs. After living in several places growing up, he resided in Ottawa, IL for the last 34 years. He worked many years until his retirement in September of 2024.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Cheriese (Alan) Mickelson, Dana (Jamey) Sebesta, and Brandon Bruce; his grandchildren, Matthew and Connor Mickelson and Brooklynn Sebesta; and his siblings, Thomas , George , Victoria Stritter McVay, Donna O’Donnell, Eric (Tracy), Tracy Ferge, Wendy Grimette, Eugene Vandermeir, and Keith Vandermeir.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Virginia; and his siblings, Robert, Jeffery, Bryan, and Dina Sweger.
