James Marshall Despain Sr., 82, of Wedron, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025, at The Pavilion of Ottawa.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. Private burial services will be held at DeBolt Cemetery.
Jim was born January 16, 1943, in Ottawa, I,L to Everett and Elva (Foote) Despain. He married Beatrice Koscielski on December 14, 1963, in Triumph, IL.
He worked for Wedron Silica for many years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed reading and watching Westerns on TV. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beatrice; his son, James (Tammy) Despain Jr.; his daughters, Cheryl (Roger) Vatland, Susan (Rob) Thompson, and Mary (Tim) Gruben; his grandchildren, Craig Thompson, Alex Thompson, and Emily Despain; his great grandson, Jason Thompson; and his siblings, Richard Despain and Betty Lou Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Elva Despain, and his sister, Helen Ayers.
