William J. Loughran, 93, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Church, Ottawa with Msgr. Mark Merdian, officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mueller Funeral Home, Ottawa prior to the mass.
William was born on July 27, 1931 in Pontiac to John and Vivian Mae (Hopkins) Loughran. He received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois. William was a veteran of the Navy. He worked for the Illinois Agricultural Auditing Association for 30 years. William married Carole J. Schumacher on June 27, 1963 in Toluca, IL. He was a member of St. Columba Church, Ottawa. William loved to go golfing, fishing and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Carole J. Loughran, of Ottawa; three children, Greg (Esmeralda) Loughran of Bartlett, Cheryl (Mike) Szott of Spring Grove, Phil Loughran of Cortland; six grandchildren, Ellen Henning, Anna Drake, Ariel Hemke, Lauren Szott, Katherine Loughran and Garrett Loughran; a brother, John (Bobby) Loughran of Phoenix, AZ; and two sisters, Janet (Bernie) Cassidy of Pontiac and Margaret (Joe) Oliver of Mattson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Vivian Loughran; and his two brothers, Tom and Mike Loughran.
