Eileen Dorothy (Slingsby) Zachary

1934 – 2025

Eileen Dorothy (Slingsby) Zachary, 90, of Ottawa passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Pavilion of Ottawa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Church with Msgr. Mark Merdian, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Ottawa on Wednesday. The Catholic Daughters of America will recite the Rosary at 10:30 a.m.

Eileen was born June 23, 1934 to John & Eileen (Aubry) Slingsby. She married Thomas Zachary on June 26, 1954 at St. Mary’s in Utica. Tom passed away March 26, 2017.

Eileen was a devoted farm wife who enjoyed attending tractor shows displaying the family’s J.I. Case collection. She was a devout Catholic being a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and a graduate of Marquette High School. Her sweet smile, kind heart, and care for others will live on as her legacy.

She is survived by sons Robert (Pat) Zachary, Michael (Debbie) Zachary Sr, & William (Jody) Zachary; daughters Mary Ellen Grubar & Katheryn Zachary; 11 grandchildren, Daniel (Brianne) Zachary, Amanda (Casey) Ocepek, Stacey Bragg, Michael (Amanda) Zachary Jr, Kelly (David) Gage, Tyler Zachary, William Kozlowski, Mary (Michael Jr) Martin, James (Alicia) Kozlowski, Matthew (Lauren) Kozlowski, John (Kellie) Kozlowski; & 16 great-grandchildren.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws, twin sister Elaine (in infancy), brother John, & son-in-law Dale Grubar.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons & Michael Martin Jr. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, David Gage, & Casey Ocepek.
