Mary Wright, 82, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025 in Avon Park, Florida.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 19, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.
Mary was born April 8, 1942, in Ottawa, IL, to Charles and Mary (Vallero) Biffany. She married Palmer Wright on December 2, 1978 in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1996.
Mary worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 32 years of service. In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her beautiful backyard ponds and gardens, reading books, and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family especially playing Left/Right/Center. She enjoyed mushroom hunting and sitting on her front porch, where the neighborhood kids would come over and get freezer pops from her. She is a member of St. Columba Church.
She is survived by her children, Carla (Robert) Keith and Cary Wright; her step daughters, Sean Schultz and Tara Summerville; her seven grandchildren, Rayla, Christy, Kayla, Tiffany, Chelsea, Cory, and Abigail; her six step grandchildren, Brett, Brandon, Brittany, Brooke, Justin, and Jordan; twelve great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; her sister, Rose Varney; two sisters in law, Marge and Kay Biffany; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Mary; her husband, Palmer; her son Carl Carpenter Jr.; her step grandson, Eric Clepper; her step son, Terry Wright; and her brothers, John, Julian, Felix, and Gino Biffany; and her sisters, Dena Whitney, Lucille Cunnigham, Catherine Johnson, Ann Cilla, and Josephine Botkins.
Pallbearers will be Cory Carpenter, Nick Wallace, Josh Donahue, Aric Kain, Charlie Whitney, Brandon Schultz, and Jim Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Whitney and Fred Carrithers.
Memorials may be directed to an animal rescue of the donor’s choosing.
