Larry Leon Cain, 90, of Ottawa

Larry Leon Cain, 90, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Ottawa with Rev. Alex Cross, officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Larry was born on December 29, 1934 in Nilwood, IL to Harold Leon and Florence Maye (Lair) Cain. He worked numerous positions for Northern Illinois Gas Company over 37 years and was a member of the IBEW. Larry married Carole Sue Garrison on September 18, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ottawa and served as a Deacon and other positions. Larry enjoyed traveling throughout all the 50 states, Canada, and many trips to Europe, including his time spent with friends in Germany. He also enjoyed spending his winters and golfing at his home in Sarasota, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Cain, of Ottawa; his three children, Candy (James) Jarigese, Tammy (Richard) Hadley, Derinda (William) Sladek; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Darryl L. Cain; and a sister, Sharolyn Sue Cowdrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Maye Cain.

Honorary pallbearers will be his eight grandchildren Shelly Lawsha Jordan, Jessica Jariqese Partridge, Abbey Fitzpatrick Southey, Katie Jariqese Vessell, Blair Fitzpatrick, Jimmy Jariqese, Billy Sladek, and Lauren Sladek Hanley.
