Joan Leona Kofoid, 89, of Marseilles, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at OSF Healthcare Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Evergreen Park. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, February 15, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Fr. Ryan Mattingly of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Leonore at a later date. Joan was born April 24, 1935, in Waltham Township to John T. and Laura (Labens) McLaughlin. On February 2, 1952, she married Walter Kofoid of Waltham Township who preceded her in death in 2017. Walt had said “The Gopher married the Weasel on Ground Hog’s Day.” They celebrated 64 years together.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Marseilles and a Lioness of Marseilles Lions Club. She served 20 years on the Marseilles Ambulance Service and as an election judge for many years. She loved playing cards, doing puzzles, and reading books. Joan was a mom to everyone.

Joan is survived by her six children, Chris (Emil) Crouch, Jean (Miles) Kleckner, Marcia (Bill) Hall, Ronald (Jennifer) Kofoid, Greg Kofoid, and Ann (Mark) Smith; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine (Ken) Kasza.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; two sons, Larry and Dennis; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; six brothers; and three sisters.

Her grandchildren will be pallbearers.
