Doris (Bense) Langer, 94, of Ottawa, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Pleasant View Lutheran Nursing Home in Ottawa.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with Deacon Ron Wackerlin, officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be will from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Langer was born on July 27, 1930 in Heilbronn, Germany to Carl W. Bense and Margaret (Ruffler) Bense. She married H. Robert Langer in Ottawa on November 27, 1957, who predeceased her as well as her parents and brother, Hans Bense of Stuttgart, Germany.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a member of Child Welfare Guild and Zetema Club for many years. She served on the Board of the La Salle County Easter Seal Society for two terms and was a member and past president of the Community Hospital of Ottawa Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Ottawa Boat Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Monika (Chet) Wasilewski; her son, H. Robert (Kristi) Langer; her daughter, Fredrika (Jim) Leighton; six grandchildren, Andy and Erik Wasilewski, Lauren and Jimmy Leighton, and Lindsey and Alex Langer; and seven great-grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Teigan, and Griffin Wasilewski, Bodhi Thies, Henry Leighton, and Stephen Langer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Robert Langer in 2007; her parents, Carl and Margaret Bense; and one brother.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Andy and Erik Wasilewski, Jimmy Leighton, Alex Langer, as well as Vincent Burke and Kyle Thies.
