Thomas “Tom” Davidson, age 72, of Ottawa

Thomas “Tom” Davidson, age 72, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024

Tom was born January 5, 1952 in Ottawa, Illinois, to Robert K. Davidson and Phyllis Ann (Thalmann) Davidson. He married Penny Wilkinson July 15, 1972 at the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Penny, and daughters Nicole (Christopher) Wynn of Ottawa and Danielle Furar of Mark, IL. He also leaves grandchildren, Andrew (Jennifer) England, Quinn Gray, Aiden “A.J.” Furar and Jacob Furar; great-granddaughter Rain Hansen; a brother, Danny (Sue) Davidson of Ottawa; sister-in-law, Pam (Greg) Carretto of Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews; and neighbors who are special friends to Tom and Penny, Steve “Boomer” and Debbie Marmion. Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Tom retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company and later found much joy delivering lunch to the various elementary schools for the Ottawa Elementary School District. He had been a dedicated member of the Ottawa River Rescue Squad for ten years serving as president for a term. Tom enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels cars. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Attending his grandsons’ various sports activities was a joyous priority to him.

Visitation for Tom will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 27th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. with the Reverend Seamus Enright officiating. Following cremation, Tom will be entombed at Oakwood Memorial Park.
