Marigail Ann (Helle) Roberts, 84, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Justin Ramza of Ottawa Catholic Parishes officiating. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
Marigail was born on March 14, 1940 in Kewanee to Gail and Mary Bernice (Barler) Helle. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Minor in Art. Marigail worked as an educator at Shepherd Junior High School in Ottawa for over 30 years. She married Leonard E. Roberts on September 23, 1960 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. Marigail loved to travel, quilt, computers, reading, listening to music, and her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Mary) Roberts, of Ottawa, Stephen (Julie) Roberts, of Rolla, MO; six grandchildren, Michael (Brenna) Roberts, Ryan (Abigail) Roberts, Shannon (Vedran) Roberts, Emily (Michael) Burns, Charles Roberts, Audrey Roberts; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Jean (Jim) Gebhardt; and a brother, Robert (Carol) Helle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents, Gail and Mary Bernice; and a sister, Linda Partak.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or Pet Project.
