Emitt Richard “Shoe” Jordan, 82, of Grand Ridge, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 at his home, with his special granddaughters by his side.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Emitt was born on November 15, 1941 in Chicago Heights to Earlon and BeEtter Jordan. He attended Bloom High School, Wright Junior College, and Shawnee Junior College. Emitt served three years in the Army. He married Sandra Midnight on November 4, 1982. Emitt was an ardent lover of Jazz, Latin Jazz, and Afro-Cuban music. He also loved trees and especially food of all kinds. Emitt hopes we respect each other, respect the Earth, and love food.
He is survived by his sister, Jerri Jackson; niece, Lenea Jackson; three step-children, Tom (Sue) Stevenson, Shanda (Joe) Tamburino, Andrew Stevenson; his most devoted adopted daughter, Billie Bekker; 13 grandchildren, J.T., Kylie, Sophia, Massimo, Gianni, Dayton, Kira, Riley, Grace, Briana (Crissy), Stephen, Ricki, Justin; eight great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Oaklyn, Melodi, Kara, Levi, Harmon, Evelyn, Stella; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earlon and BeEtter Jordan; his beautiful wife, Sandra; and a daughter, Hilary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to planting a tree.
