Robert Ernest Knottek, 69, of Ottawa, passed away on July 28, 2024 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by the love of his family.
Bob was born on August 29, 1954 in Ottawa to Robert and Marilyn Knottek. He was a 1972 Ottawa Township High School graduate. He married the love of his life, Joyce, on October 6, 1973. Together, they had 3 wonderful children. Bob worked as an electrician at Stateville Correctional Center for 28 years, and retired at 50 years old. He was a hardworking man, and not one to sit still very long. In his retired days you could find him bartending at one of his favorite pubs, or behind the wheel of the City Cab. Bob was happiest spending time in his yard & garden, fishing, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies, but mostly, he was happiest with his family and his dogs. He loved fishing with the grandkids, giving them rides on the riding lawnmower, teaching them to garden, and cheering them on at their sporting events. They were his whole world. He was a master of the grill, and loved a family cookout at his house. He was always there for us all. He was an amazing provider to our family, and that’s what mattered most to him. He always said how blessed he was, but we were the ones blessed to have him as a husband, father and Papa. He was a man of faith, and had a strong relationship with God. For that, we know he will have eternal peace.
Survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Knottek, 3 children, Chad (Missy) Knottek, Katie Knottek, and Beth (Brad) Sholders, 8 grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony, Austin, Ethan, Levi, Jake, Zoe and Nevaeh, and 3 great-grandchildren, Caroline, Greyson and Brantley, 4 siblings, Karen (Dale) Sondgeroth, Mary Beth (Ron) Marino, Richard (Donna) Knottek, and Beverly (Mike) Skul.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Presleigh Brue.
Per Bob’s request there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home.
