Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, July 11, at the Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica with Rev. Mark Nowakowski officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery east of Tonica with full military services conducted by the Tonica American Legion. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Wednesday, July 10, at the funeral home and additional visitation will be 9:00 AM until time of services on Thursday in the funeral home.
Pete was born in Troy Grove on October 7, 1937 to Roy and Margaret (Arndt) Kreiser. He married Marcia Foltynewicz on October 10, 1964 at the Tonica United Methodist Church in Tonica with Rev. Ronald Winsor officiating. Pete served with the United States Army from September 20, 1956 to September 19, 1959 as an Army Specialist 4th Class. He worked at the Lowell Brickyard, Webb McLaughlin Trucking, Beenenga Feed and Grain, and retired from the La Salle County Highway Department after 25 years.
Pete enjoyed sitting in the backyard watching the birds, rabbits, squirrels, and airplanes—his quiet time. He loved sports, and he loved playing cards and cribbage. He also enjoyed riding around town and ended up at the cemetery to visit his son. He loved gardening and his flowers.
Pete is survived by his wife Marcia of Tonica, one brother Jerry (Pamela) Kreiser of Lostant, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Roger Edward Kreiser; his parents; five sisters Laura Trumpinski, Dorothy Munson, Martha Samolitis, Linda Decker, and Neva Eytcheson; seven brothers Walter, Richard, Harry, Edwin, Daniel, Michael, and one baby Harold; nieces Julie Kreiser and Tami (Samolitis) Puetz; nephews Richard “Rick” Kreiser Jr. and Dave Puetz; and a great nephew Matthew Decker.
Pallbearers will be his Kreiser nephews Ronald, Randal, Damien, Ryan, Chad, James “Jim”, John, Greg, and Eric.
Memorials may be directed to the Tonica Fire and Ambulance Department, Tonica Cemetery Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
