The Streator City Council voted 4-1 in opposition to OSF’s plan to build a new Ottawa hospital and reduce services available. The Streator Council’s resolution is similar to the Ottawa City Council’s but asks for expanded healthcare services in Streator. OSF provides a standalone emergency room in Streator however the closest hospital to the city is in Ottawa. No specific services are asked for in the resolution. The city is looking for anything more than what is already offered in the standalone emergency room.

An Ottawa man was arrested for criminal trespassing on state property. Ottawa Police arrested 22-year-old David A. Mercadel at his home on Tuesday.

Last night, LaSalle County Deputies responded to a physical domestic complaint at Ottawa Estates Mobile Home Park. Benjamin Sappington (44) of Ottawa was arrested and taken to the LaSalle County Jail for the following charges: domestic battery and aggravated battery (victim over 60).

Yesterday at 5:18 p.m., LaSalle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of IL RT 23 and N 36th Rd. in Freedom Township. Anthony Day (32) of Utica IL, was arrested on scene for driving with a suspended license. Anthony was taken to the LaSalle County Jail, where he was later cited and released.

LaSalle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop yesterday at 4:56 p.m. in the area of N 17th Rd. and E 24th Rd. in Allen Township. Riley Haynes (29) of Streator IL, was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and received a mandatory court date.

A teen is charged in a shooting earlier this month in Bloomington.  Police say shots were fired June 7 in the one-thousand block of West Front Street.  No injuries were reported.  Authorities arrested a 16-year-old boy Tuesday on a charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.  He was transported to the McLean County Juvenile Detention Center.

 

Illinois Republican Chairman Don Tracy is stepping down after over three years at the helm.  Tracy announced his resignation yesterday, just weeks before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.  He said his decision was due in part to spending more time dealing with infighting among fellow Republicans than fighting Democrats.  His resignation is effective upon the election of a new chairman or no later than July 19.  The announcement comes after the Illinois Republican State Central Committee voted this week to remove Mark Shaw as state party vice chair.

 A 16-year-old is wounded following a shooting in Decatur.  Police say a group was walking down the street Tuesday night when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire in the area of West Center and North Huron Streets.  The teen was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the hip.  No arrests have been made.

Visitation services for Leo Alan Petre will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services for Leo Alan Petre will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Ron Wackerlin officiating.

White Sox Struggle Against Brown, Astros

The Chicago White Sox couldn’t solve Hunter Brown during a 4-1 loss to the Houston Astros at Guaranteed Rate Field.  The Sox struck out six times against the Houston starter and were held to just one run on seven hits in six innings.  Andrew Benintendi homered to give the Sox their only run, and Garrett Crochet fell to 6-and-6 after surrendering three runs on nine hits in six innings.  Chicago has dropped two of three and remains in last place in the AL Central at 20-and-55.  Chris Flexen starts for Chicago against Houston today.

Cubs Hold Off Giants To Claim Series

The Cubs held off the Giants 6-5 to win their series from Wrigley Field.  Dansby Swanson slugged a solo homer and finished with three RBI, while Ian Happ also went deep.  Kyle Hendricks earned the win after giving up one run on two hits while striking out eight batters over five-and-two-thirds innings.  Colton Brewer notched his first save of the season as Chicago has won back-to-back games and sits fourth in the NL Central at 36-and-39.  The Northsiders host the Mets tomorrow.  In other team news, the Cubs designated catcher Yan Gomes for assignment yesterday.

Sky Host Wings

The Chicago Sky aim to avoid a fifth straight loss when they host the Dallas Wings at Wintrust Arena this morning.  The Sky are coming off a 91-83 loss to the Indiana Fever last Sunday.  Chicago is in ninth place in the WNBA with a 4-and-9 record.  This morning’s game gets underway at 11:00 a.m.
