Marion L. Kahon, 84, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

A celebration of life will be held on June 15, at Ed’s home, time will be announced on his facebook. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.

Marion was born August 1, 1939, in Flint, Michigan. He was raised on a farm and spent many years working there. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served for over 4 years. When he returned from the service, he started working as a truck driver. He was a truck driver for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local 705 and worked for Snappy Delivery Service. When he wasn’t working, he was a very competitive weight lifter. He was also an avid fisherman, fishing places like Powers Lake in Wisconsin, the Chain of Lakes in Northern Illinois and locally here in the Illinois and Fox Rivers. He was an avid Chicago Bears and always watched their games. He was most proud of being a dad and grandpa. He always attended his son’s wrestling matches and loved spending time with his grandkids. Right about now, he has joined his best friend, Bob, in heaven and they are drinking an Old Style and reminiscing about old times.

He is survived by his sons, Marion E. Kahon and Ed (Sarah) Kahon; his grandchildren, Karrie, Carol, Kennedi, and Sloane Kahon and Baby Reed on the way; as well as numerous close friends that were like family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, Bob Blystone.
