Helga Toyton, 97, of Ottawa, passed on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Pavilion of Ottawa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Helga was born on April 6, 1927 in Kiel, Germany. She went to seamstress school in Germany and carried on her work after moving to the United States. She met John W. Toynton in Germany while he was serving in the US Army and they married on November 10, 1956 at St. Francis Church in Ottawa.
She is survived by four children, Paula Toynton of Charlotte, NC, Rose Toynton, of Ottawa, Chrstine (Larry) Bayer of Ottawa, and Jim (Rose) Toynton of Marseilles; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Paula Schlüter, her husband John in December of 1997, two sisters, in Germany, and one brother in Germany.
