Arla Elaine Severson, 92, of Ottawa

Arla Elaine Severson, 92, of Ottawa, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Pleasant View.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, with Rev. John Walker, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Deer Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller funeral Home in Ottawa.

Arla was born on October 5, 1931 in Ottawa to Carl and Mary (Beck) Weber. She was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School, class of 1949 and earned her nursing degree from Silver Cross Hospital in 1951. Arla worked as a Registered Nurse for 50 years. She married Harold “Bud” Severson on May 2, 1954 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. Arla was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, playing cards, going to auctions, mission trips, Bible study, and visiting with friends and family.

Arla is survived by three children; Gayle (Larry) Schmitt of Utica, Diane (Michael) Farrell of Ottawa, and John (Kim) Severson of Dawsonville, GA; six grandchildren, Jason (Kira)Schmitt, Laura (Kyle) Zarwell, David Farrell, Kathryn (Dan) Duggan, Lauren (Alexander) Tourlakes, and Collin Severson ; nine great grandchildren Madelynn and Reilly Schmitt, Nolan, Jax and Marek Zarwell, Hannah and Addison Duggan, and Maverick Tourlakes and baby Tourlakes coming in September; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Fergus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, in 2002.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren; Jason Schmitt, Laura Zarwell, David Farrell, Kathryn Duggan, Lauren Tourlakes, and Collin Severson.

Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or Transforming Uganda Farmers.
