OTTAWA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that the E 30th Road/N. La Salle Road bridge crossing Interstate 80 is closed following an inspection. The bridge is located at the Grundy-La Salle County line about 2 miles west of the Seneca interchange.
An inspection of the bridge Thursday found several beam ends were not making full contact on the pier bearings. The closure is necessary to allow temporary repairs to be done in order to reopen the bridge to traffic. The work is expected to take no more than seven days to complete.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area and be prepared for slow and stopped traffic. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
