The latest round of flooding in the Illinois Valley appears to be subsiding, with the Illinois River in La Salle cresting early this morning just over 3 feet above flood stage and projected to gradually recede below flood levels by late next week. Similarly, in Utica, the river peaked at approximately 4 feet above flood stage on Thursday night, with expectations of returning to normal levels by late next week. Receding waters have already allowed for the reopening of some lanes in Starved Rock State Park’s lower main parking lot. Meanwhile, in Ottawa, the Illinois River has been steadily receding since Wednesday, while the Fox River in the area remained below flood stage throughout the event.
