Visitation will be on Saturday, March 16, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Aux Sable Grove Cemetery at a later date. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home. Marybeth was born May 31, 1940, in Moline, IL, to Rolen Neil and Mary Dorothy (Seck) Searle. She married Charles Engel Sr. on June 14, 1985, at St. Patrick’s Church in Ottawa. He passed away on July 24, 2013. Marybeth became a nurse in 1975. She worked for the Department of Corrections from 1984 until 2003. After, she worked in Dr. Beck’s office until her retirement at age 75. In her free time, she loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, Branson, and Galena. She was an excellent baker and cook and made the best pies and potato salad. She enjoyed reading and always had beautiful flowers. She loved her grandchildren beyond words. She had a special relationship with each and every one of them. She had a beautiful smile that would brighten any room and was the most kindhearted and loving person. She was a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her entire family. She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Engel; her grandchildren, Danielle Weeks, Kimberly Weeks, Lacy (Mike) Warren, Chadd (Mel) Engel, and Holly Crabbe; her great-grandchildren, Ayden Weeks, Charles Engel, Ethan Crabbe, Rolen Engel, MaeveWarren, and Mealla Warren; her brother and sister in law, Clyde and Benita Weeks; her daughter in law, Denise Weeks; her stepson, Charles Engel Jr.; her dog, Patches; her granddog, Bo; her cat, Mr. Pibb; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolen and Mary; her husband, Charles Engel Sr.; her son, Rolen Weeks; her sister Barbara Gray; and her stepdaughter, Tina Angel.
