David Griffey, Sr., 67, of Marseilles, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on March 16, 2024, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with Rev. David Ufkes, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard immediately following the services.
David was born on August 17, 1956 in Kankakee. His parents were Ralph and Lois (McWhorter) Zachgo. He worked at LaSalle Exelon Nuclear Power Plant for 29 years. David was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served from 1976 to 1982. He married Theresa Jordan on November 29, 1975, at Faith Baptist Church in Bourbonnais. He enjoyed being on the computer and playing chess.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa M. Griffey of Marseilles; his two sons, David R. (Barbara) Griffey, Jr. of Marseilles and Thomas (Jennifer) Griffey of Bourbonnais; five grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-greatgrandchild; a brother, Ralph Zachgo, Jr.; and three sisters, Anna Baily, Marie Rigney, and Lucky Pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lois Zachgo; two brothers, James Griffey and Harold Griffey, Jr.
