(Springfield, IL) — Reviews of Governor J.B. Pritzker’s budget plan for Illinois are split along party lines. Democratic State Senator Dave Koehler supports the governor’s idea of increasing consumer protection and expanding access to healthcare. Republicans criticized the governor’s plan to spend more state tax dollars on migrants who are being bused in from the border. Governor Pritzker says more than 35-thousand asylum seekers have recently arrived in Illinois from Texas. Lawmakers have until the end of May to hammer out a budget agreement for the state.
