(Chicago, IL) — The trial of former state senator William “Sam” McCann is delayed yet again. Proceedings were postponed one day yesterday to allow a court-appointed standby attorney to take over McCann’s defense. The trial was delayed last week after the former governor candidate was hospitalized. Once he was released from the hospital, McCann was taken into custody Friday after not contacting his probation officer. McCann was indicted on federal wire fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion charges over allegations of misusing more than 200-thousand-dollars worth of campaign funds.
