Marcia Shepherd, 74, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at LaSalle County Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, February 15 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at noon at the funeral home.
Marcia was born on January 8, 1950, in Ottawa, to George “Bud” and Margaret “Peg” (Parr) Hougas. On October 20, 1995, she married Ken Shepherd of Wilton, IA who preceded her in death in 2021.
She was employed by the City of Ottawa for eight years as the secretary to the mayor. Then she worked for many years as a secretary for the office of Veteran Affairs in Ottawa. After moving to Iowa she worked for Iowa One Call until her retirement. Marcia enjoyed going for rides, traveling, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Kim Cummings and Kevin (Cara) Cummings both of Ottawa; four grandchildren, Ashley Cummings, Kady Lewis, Tom Lewis, and Taylor (Pancho) Andrade-Lewis; four great-grandchildren, Mason, Elizabeth, Izabel, and Lucia; one sister, JoEllen McCue of Sterling; two brothers, Robert “Bob” (Deb) Hougas of Ottawa and Wilbur “Craig” (Cindy) Hougas of Marseilles; her sister-in-law, Laura Hougas of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ken; and one brother, Kent Hougas.
