RE: Death Investigation
Sheriff Adam Diss reports that on February 7th, 2024 at approximately 4:48 pm, the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting. Upon arrival Deputies located a female with apparent gunshot wounds. The female was transported to OSF St. Elizebeth Hospital to be treated for her injuries. Deputies also located a male inside the residence with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This is an isolated incident and there is no current threat to the public. This incident remains under investigation by the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office. The names of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.
Sheriff Diss would like to thank the LaSalle County Emergency Management Agency, Sheridan EMS, Serena Fire Department, and Utica Fire Department who also responded and assisted with this incident.
