At 6:38 a.m. on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, the Ottawa Fire Department received a call regarding a house filling with smoke. Swiftly responding to the scene, the first crew arrived at a 2-story house at 6:41 am with a visible fire on the northwest corner of the structure.

Taking immediate action, the fire department’s crews managed to extinguish the flames in the room on the northwest corner of the house, while a second crew entered the front of the house with a hose line and advanced to the second story to prevent fire advancement. Thankfully, all occupants of the house had safely evacuated before the arrival of the fire department. Fortunately, no civilians or firefighters were harmed in the incident.

Thanks to the firefighters’ efforts, the fire was contained in a small section of the house. By 6:46 a.m., the situation was declared under control, but the firefighters continued their work with salvage, overhaul, and investigation tasks. The origin of the fire is the entry/mud room, and the fire is accidental/electrical from a space heater and power strip.
