(Galesburg, IL) — No one is hurt after a mortar was found at a home in Galesburg. The mortar was discovered yesterday by a resident who was cleaning out a relative’s garage. The resident brought the mortar to the Galesburg Public Safety Building lobby and turned it over to the police. It was then removed from the building and placed in the grass on the east side of the public safety building. City employees were evacuated before the bomb squad determined there was no explosive material in the device, which was disposed of properly.
