Arthur J. Preci, 68, of Ottawa, passed away December 6, 2023, at OSF St. Elizabeth with his wife by his side.
Funeral services will be on December 15, 2023, at 6 p.m. at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Father Nicolas Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
Arthur was born on March 26, 1955, in Ottawa, Illinois to Dominic and Patricia Preci. He married Christine Oberholz on October 11, 1975, in Peru, Illinois. Arthur started working for the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department on February 1, 1988, and retired as superintendent of the jail after over 20 years of service. He started working court security part-time on January 2, 2013, until early 2023. Arthur was an avid fisherman, gardener, handyman, reader, chef, and loved Jeopardy. But most importantly, he was a loving husband, an adoring father, the world’s best papa, a number one uncle, and a good friend.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Christine; two children, Ryan (Corey Pressler) Preci of Indianapolis, IN, and Kayla (Damian) Fleming of Decatur, IL; two grandsons, Macklin and Brady Fleming; his dog, Barkley; his nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vi Preci; his in-laws, Richard and Rose Oberholz, and his parents.
