Eric Carls, the City of Peru Director of Engineering and zoning delivered an update on the brand-new road

being installed at Master Builder Way giving access to the new GAF plant located just north of I-80 and west of Plank Road on the OmniTRAX rail line. Carls explained (City Hall 5) that it’s been a rigorous process. The first step was to apply for a State of Illinois EDP grant to fund 50% of the road’s construction. The City paved every weekday from Labor Day through last Friday. The City built a 3,000-foot concrete road in three months. Numerous spots needed to be filled as it went through a floodplain.

Carls said there are still some items to be finished, such as lighting and ditch grading. Otherwise, the road is open and ready to go.
