The guard at the Ottawa Barge River terminal guard shack confirmed a male was rescued from the Illinois River this morning. He was taken to a St Elizabeth OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa in fair condition.
The guard believes Naplate fire and EMS were on the scene and possibly Grand Ridge. WCMY was unable to reach either Naplate Volunteer Fire Department , the Grand Ridge Vol. Fire Department or Ottawa River Rescue for confirmation.
The guard refused further comment but did say company authorities were currently on the scene investigating and he could not allow me past the gate.
