Reddick being decorated for Christmas

In case you are driving past the Reddick mansion after sunset, you may see a lot of activity going on inside and wonder what’s going on. Lorraine McCallister, President of the Reddick Mansion Foundation says its volunteers decorating the mansion for Christmas.

12 trees are being put up, the archways are being draped, and the chandeliers are being decorated with greenery. There will be a Christmas Candlelight Open House, Dec 8th from 6 pm to 8 pm. At that time you can see and experience a true Victorian era home decorated for Christmas first hand.

Costumed docents will give you a full tour. Refreshments will be available downstairs. No advance registration is needed.

Built in 1858 at the corner of Lafayette and Columbus, this three story, 22-room Italianate mansion was possibly the most expensive private home in Illinois at that time.
