Barbara Olson, age 75, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 17th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post 33 in Ottawa. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 16th. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
Barb was born November 22, 1947, in Ottawa, Illinois, a daughter of Paul and Mary “Maudie” (Semyck) West. She married Robert Olson on March 3th0, 1968 in Ottawa. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; children, Steven (Sam Richardson) Olson and B.J. (Lisa) Olson all of Ottawa, and Tina (Edward) Sundstedt of Rockton, IL. She also leaves grandchildren, Taylor (Preston) Hergert, Jonathan (Emily) Sundstedt, Mackenzie (Robin) Butler, Jackson Olson, and Logan Olson; and one great-granddaughter to be. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rita Jo Savage; and her canine companion, Tucker.
Barb retired as a service clerk at Wal-Mart. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 33 and an avid supporter of the Chicago White Sox. Barb had various interests including crafting, collecting rocks from various travel destinations, and hosting family Fish Frys. The most important time was spent with her loving family and attending her grandchildren’s various sports and music events.
