A scene out of an action movie happened for real in downtown Ottawa at about 10 am this morning. Ottawa police gave chase to a black Ford Focus with two occupants down Columbus Street where it took a right on Norris Drive. Grundy County deputies took up the pursuit on Route 6. The chase wound up on I-80 where the Focus took the Route 47 exit and went south to Morris at high speeds. Stop sticks were employed that blew three tires on the Focus near Gun Club Road east of Morris.
Both occupants were taken into custody without further incident. They were wanted for questioning in regard to several thefts. A small pitbull was also taken from the suspect’s vehicle and turned over to Grundy County Animal Control.
